Do You Preach Goodness but Forget Yourself? | Quran Verse Al-Baqarah 2:44 | Islamic Reminder

📖Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says in the Holy Qur’an:

اَتَأْمُرُوْنَ النَّا سَ بِا لْبِرِّ وَتَنْسَوْنَ اَنْفُسَكُمْ وَاَ نْتُمْ تَتْلُوْنَ الْكِتٰبَ ۗ اَفَلَا تَعْقِلُوْنَ

"Do you order righteousness of the people and forget yourselves while you recite the Scripture? Then will you not reason?"

(Qur’an, Surah Al-Baqarah 2:44)

This beautiful verse reminds us of a deep truth — that sincerity in faith begins with ourselves. Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala warns us not to advise others toward righteousness while neglecting our own actions. A true believer practices what they preach, leading by example with honesty, humility, and devotion.

Many times, people teach goodness, patience, and faith to others but fail to apply those same principles in their own lives. This ayah urges us to reflect on our hearts and actions — to be sincere in worship, truthful in words, and consistent in deeds.

Reciting the Qur’an is not only an act of worship; it is a guide for life. Living according to its teachings brings light to our souls and blessings to our lives. Let us strive to be among those who understand and act upon Allah’s words with true wisdom and faith.
